Directed by Kirsten Johnson
6:30pm for 7pm screening, followed by conversation and discussion.
At: Life Rites @ Boutique Funeral Home, 118 Durham St, Hurstville
We’re opening the doors of our funeral home again for the last of our Friday Film Nights for 2023 (don’t worry - more to come in 2024).
This time we’re showing ‘Dick Johnson Is Dead’, a documentary film directed by Kirsten Johnson.
The story focuses on Johnson's father Richard, who has dementia, portraying different ways—some of them violent "accidents"—in which he could ultimately die. In each scenario, the elderly Johnson plays along with his daughter's black humour and imaginative fantasies. A hilarious and touching portrayal of their relationship, alongside the ups and downs of navigating dementia.
Chai & snacks will be provided. Free entry, with the opportunity to donate to the cost of running the event, if you have the means and the volition.
