End-of-Life Practitioner; Knowledge and Skill Development Workshops
The team at Life Rites have broad and extensive knowledge across the end-of-life spectrum, from preliminary and ongoing doula support and mapping the health and aged care systems through to dying at home, holistic body care, the legalities of death care in NSW, and expertise in ceremonial and funeral rites.
We are opening the doors of our funeral home to offer face to face workshops for Doula’s and end-of-life professionals looking to expand their practical skills and knowledge. Participants are required to have completed prior training in end-of-life care.
We will run a series of workshops throughout 2025. The first is being offered on the weekend of Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 March 2025. The workshop will cover:
Where do I begin? Setting up, starting out, distilling your origin story to define your offering in death care.
The Practicalities of death: What happens as we die, preparing for and conducting a vigil, using a cold plate, introduction to holistic body care, shrouding and moving body from the place of death.
Navigating the systems: Understanding where the doula fits in to the health care networks and funeral and death care systems.
The cost for the weekend is $770.00. This includes resources, materials, hands on learning in a working funeral home and somatic practice and exercises. All participants will receive a certificate of completion and 1hr of supervision from one of the team when you have a doula client at end of life. We can discuss pricing accessibility and payment plans.
Morning and afternoon tea are provided.
Places are limited to ensure everyone can participate in the practical embodied learning experience.
